Dimensional tolerances and quality of stampings

An external force is applied to a plate, a strip, a pipe, a profile, and the like by a punch and a die to cause plastic deformation or separation, thereby obtaining a forming process of a workpiece of a desired shape and size, and the obtained workpiece is a stamped part. The stamping part is a forming method of a workpiece (stamping part) of a desired shape and size by applying an external force to a plate, a strip, a pipe, a profile, and the like by a press and a die to cause plastic deformation or separation. Stamping and forging are the same plastic processing (or pressure processing), collectively called forging. The stamped blanks are mainly hot rolled and cold rolled steel sheets and strips.


The stamping parts are light in weight, thin in thickness and good in rigidity. Its dimensional tolerance is guaranteed by the mold, so the quality is stable and generally no need to be mechanically cut. The metal structure and mechanical properties of the cold stamping parts are better than the original blanks, and the surface is smooth and beautiful. The tolerance grade and surface condition of cold stampings are superior to hot stampings.


Large-volume production of small and medium-sized parts is generally a continuous mold with a composite mold or a multi-station. Centered on modern high-speed multi-station presses, it is equipped with strip unwinding, correction, finished product collection, conveying, mold library and rapid mold change device, and computer program control can form a fully automatic production line with high productivity. Using new mold materials and various surface treatment technologies to improve the mold structure, high-precision, high-life stamping dies can be obtained, thereby improving the quality of stamping parts and reducing the manufacturing cost of stamping parts.


The process and equipment for stamping production are constantly evolving. In addition to the traditional stamping parts made of presses and steel molds, hydroforming and various special stampings such as spin forming, superplastic forming, explosive forming, electroforming, electromagnetic forming, etc. The forming process has also developed rapidly, bringing the level of stamping technology to a new level. The special stamping forming process is especially suitable for the production of small and medium-sized batches (even dozens of parts) of various varieties. For ordinary stamping processes, simple molds, low-melting alloy molds, group molds, and stamping flexible manufacturing systems can be used to organize the stamping of small and medium-sized parts.


In short, stamping has a series of advantages such as high productivity, low processing cost, high material utilization rate, simple operation, and easy realization of mechanization and automation. The composite process of stamping, welding and bonding makes the structure of the parts more reasonable and the processing is more convenient. It is possible to manufacture more complicated structural parts with a simpler process.
